For Louis C.K., another experiment in saving his fans money and aggravation has paid off.

On Monday, the comedian announced he was selling tickets for his next tour directly through his Web site for $ 45. By Wednesday, C.K. said on Twitter that he sold 100,000 tickets after just under two days. That's $ 4.5 million, he said, adding it's "not all mine."

"I guess it was a good idea," he joked.

"THANKS everyone. Lotsa shows are sold out but we're adding more soon. Now I gotta do these shows and I'd be good. [Expletive]," he continued. "If I turn up dead, and you wonder who did me in . . . well . . . follow the money. Ha ha. No. But seriously please don't shoot me."

C.K., the creator and star of his own FX show, saw similarly positive results when he sold his last comedy special off his Web site for $ 5.

As a stipulation of selling seats to his tour this way, C.K. earlier warned that tickets purchased on resale sites would be invalid at the door.

According to SeatGeek — a site that aggregates information on tickets from sites like StubHub and eBay a la Kayak.com — only 122 tickets for C.K.'s shows were on sale after 48 hours. Today, it appears that number has dropped dramatically.

The tour kicks off this October in Cleveland. Tickets are available
